Home > Who We Are > Our Core Convictions

We believe that the Bible is the inspired, and therefore inerrant, Word of God providing guidance for all of life, and that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God sent into the world to reconcile sinners to a Holy God. We believe that the Holy Spirit was sent to equip us to serve Christ in building His kingdom, but also to guide us into the truth.

We believe that, pursuant to that end, the Spirit has providentially led the church throughout the ages into a clearer understanding of the Truth as reflected in the historic Creeds and Confessions of the Church. As Presbyterians, it is particularly the Westminster Confession of Faith and Catechisms that constitutes our doctrinal standard while the Bible is our primary doctrinal standard.

While we identify with what the Creed calls the ‘holy catholic church’ (meaning the church universal as transcending time and space), we stand in the tradition of the Protestant reformers, who gave expression to their faith in terms of the five solas:

Sola Scriptura … the Bible alone is our final authority
Sola Fide … we are saved by faith alone
Sola Gratia … by grace alone
Sola Christus … through Christ alone
Soli Deo Gloria … glory to God alone.

We believe that the Church is a people who are set apart as precious in the eyes of God by virtue of the covenant He has established with them through Christ Jesus, and that those belonging to Him will also belong to the church as given expression in a local congregation.
